To mp3 To mp4

Converting YouTube links to mp3 or video (mp4) has become a very popular activity among Internet users. Some of them are using this service to create playlists for their audio devices while others are converting YouTube links in order to post them online. During last couple of years websites that are offering this kind of services have grown significantly. The process of converting YouTube links into mp3 or mp4 is very easy and it involves two distinct actions: copying the link and pasting it in a specific zone from the website and downloading the converted file when done. It only takes 3 clicks and there you have it: your favorite music or video is downloaded to your PC, tablet or smartphone. Obviously, some issues occurred because of chaotic use this service, especially with audio or video materials that were protected by copyrights. Over the years, YouTube did deals with some giants in the music industry, record labels such as Warner Music Group and Universal to host music videos on the site. Although the music is always free, most videos have links to buy the songs on iTunes, Google Play and AmazonMP3. The video is supposed to be promotional, but conversion sites provide a way to take the music with you at no charge. Also, trade names, trademarks, service marks, logos, domain names and other distinctive brand features of YouTube were affected by this kind of service because it almost immediately generated a huge traffic volume. According to official estimations, there are roughly 400 million people across the world that are using this kind of services. So Google, which owns YouTube, considered a good idea to hire an army of lawyers and to put pressure on some websites, in an attempt to settle some things straight, from its point of view. Well, although the lawyers have tried to close down some websites specialized on converting YouTube links to mp3 or video, they didn’t solved much.

The situation is slowly but surely improving for websites that are offering this kind of service. Take Canada, for example. It is the first country that legalized YouTube conversions with new C-11 copyright modernization bill. Are you curious what is written in it? The bill C-11 text states that if content an individual acquires legally (such as YouTube), uses for private purposes, not gives the content away, makes no more than one copy, and keeps the content for a reasonable amount of time in order to listen at a more convenient time, then, “It is not an infringement of copyright for an individual to fix a communication signal, to reproduce a work or sound recording that is being broadcast or to fix or reproduce a performer’s performance that is being broadcast, in order to record a program for the purpose of listening to or viewing.”. So, if you live in Canada, you are one lucky fellow. Another example is Germany. In Germany according to German law it is legal to download digital radio broadcasts as well as YouTube videos because there are no copyrights of a third party violated by providing such kind of service and it has to be considered legal. Since there are precedents on this matter, next time you want to convert YouTube links to mp3 or video, you can do it without being afraid that you will be considered an outlaw, as Google wanted you to think in the first place. These sites are created for people and all the people are free in their choice whether to download music from YouTube or not. Besides that there are many different sites which offer to download the content that is 100% legal to obtain. So it means that Google doesn’t have any legal power to close such sites and they have every legal rights to exist. No matter what the laws from your country says, you should know one simple thing: you can freely download music from YouTube and listen to it wherever you are unless you’re going to distribute or sell it. Let's talk a little about YouTube. This phenomenon has been around for more than 10 years and already has definitely changed the world. The sheer size and influence of YouTube is truly mind blowing. Bellow you will find how exactly this platform rose to prominence and how big it is. First of all the size. There are seven billions hours of videos watched every month. Also, it will take you four straight days of watching, just to view the amount of video uploaded every 60 seconds. Surprisingly, 80% of all YouTube views are outside of US. In terms of size on the web, YouTube is the third most visited website on the Internet and the second largest search engine in the world. This should give you a very quick glimpse of how big YouTube actually is right now. But, where did all this come from and how did this happen?

Well, it all starts with Elon Musk. You know, he is that guy who is planning to send people to Mars and already has his design space company and the same guy who created the electric car company Tesla. Elon Musk is also the co-founder of PayPal. As it turns out, three of the employees of PayPal were going to change the world. Their names are Chad Hurley, Steve Chen and Jawed Karim. They were interested in creating a video dating website called Tune In Hook Up. It was a website where people could upload videos of themselves in order to find dates. As you can guess, it didn’t really work out well, as most of the people weren’t really interested in the idea. But, as it so often happens with these things, serendipity would strike. One day, Jawed Karim would happened to notice how hard it was to find a video of Janet Jackson’s wardrobe malfunction anywhere on the Internet. This sparked an idea and the lack of Janet Jackson’s wardrobe malfunction was realized as a market need. The solution for this need would change the world. They just had to apply the right formula and that was found in the existing video sharing site Tune In Hook Up, whose name was later changed to YouTube. The website was founded in February 14 2005 in a humble room, above a shop in California. The first video was titled "Me at the Zoo" and it was made by Jawed Karim and uploaded on April 23 2005. It wasn’t long before YouTube had his first million hits on a video. This happened in September 2005 and was actually a Nike ad. This ad featured the Brazilian player, Ronaldinho and it made Nike one of the first companies to embrace YouTube’s promotional potential. By November 2005, YouTube had already received 3.5 million dollars and venture capital. In June of 2006, NBC and YouTube made a deal. This helped the traditional media company to enter into the digital age. After this, it wasn’t long before the website caught the attention of Google and in October 2006, YouTube was acquired for 1.6 billion dollars.

At the time, Google called it the next step in evolution of the Internet. Because the company had only 65 employees, things just kept going from strength to strength for YouTube and that year, YouTube was one of the fastest growing site on the entire Internet. This was only the beginning. YouTube was also about to become personal for many individuals around the world. In May 2007, the YouTube Partner Program came into the picture, and this changed the lives of many people. For the first time, YouTube made it possible for everyday people to turn their hobbies into a business. About a year later, the most successful users were having 6 figure incomes from YouTube. In the same year, 7 out of the 16 presidential candidate, announced their campaigns by YouTube and in July, YouTube and CNN hosted their first presidential debate, featuring citizens submitting video questions. This is also the first time in history where user generated videos drove the debate. For some reason, this was a reminder of the first televised presidential debate between Nixon and Kennedy in 1960. At that time, we may say that if it wasn’t for the televised session, Kennedy wouldn’t ever been elected. So the next question is: did YouTube played a part of history this time?

In August 2007, Google finally decided that it's time to start making money with YouTube and rolled out first advertisements. After this, it wasn’t long before YouTube truly became mainstream. In 2009, US Congress and the Vatican launched their YouTube channels. YouTube live streaming allowed live time footage of anything, from royal wedding to the Olympics to live concerts on news coverage. In the same year it became clear that YouTube could do even bigger things, it could influence world history. During 2011 Arab Spring, YouTube played an instrumental role in disseminating messages of freedom and democracy. It demonstrated that major cultural movement could now be influenced by social media. On a different note, in the same year, the channel Majestic casual was founded and some said that this channel influenced Internet music culture. Within the key it taste for various types of cutting edge future music of various genres. It brought the music into the light line which is now heard everywhere. From 2012 onwards, YouTube never really looked back. Over the years, every few months new features have been added to the site, which lead to the exponential growth of YouTube. It really has become its own living breathing culture which is amazing for the short amount of time that’s really been around in full force.

What other interesting things are there about YouTube, just how big is it now? Well, is bigger than TV and according to Google executive chairman, Eric Schmidt. He already said that YouTube is replacing TV watching as a whole. He goes on to say that the future of YouTube is now. This is in reference to YouTube having passed to one billion unique visitors every month. We believe that everyone is starting to realise how big YouTube is, even TV advertisers. Advertisers are now starting to turn from TV to YouTube and one of these ways is through Google. Google is the preferred program for exclusive advertisers, many of them from TV. They can choose to advertise on premium YouTube channels, now. Not only this but some very real celebrities have actually made this start from YouTube. A good example is Justin Biber, but apart from that you will find shows like Broad City and Workaholics with humour concept shows that got their start from YouTube skits and now they have full season on prime time TV and a lot of them enjoying a lot of success.

A very interesting phenomenon is happening, just by the sheer amount of video that’s on there. When you have so many people uploading videos, some strange things are about to happen. A large number of people have started to upload the old VHS tapes, digitally and because there are so many people doing this, we can construct entire decades from TV. There are some very clever websites that were made to mimic the TV reality of the 1970, 1980 and 1990, the sites are called My 70’s TV, My 80’s TV and My 90’s TV and you can watch comedy, commercials, drama game shows, movies, music, news, talk shows and just everything from those particular years. There’s more videos being added all the time but already it works like an actual TV of those decades. YouTube's community is very vibrant as there’s new forms of entertaining channels such as Vsauce or Veritasium, everything from prank videos with channels like Big Doors TV to straight up comedy. YouTube definitely has changed the world politically, personally for the lives of many and collectively in a way we communicate with each other and tend to consume media through society. It’s very interesting and only time will tell where this platform goes in 10 years from now. Videos has never been so diverse and have never been so good. Looking at the big picture, all of this started from three good friends, realising that there was no existing way of sharing an embarrassing video of Janet Jackson. Thank you, Janet!
